Supporting Homeless Veterans

ABF – The Soldiers Charity provided Amicus Trust with funding for essential equipment for new housing projects supporting veterans of the UK forces.

With approximately 1 in 10 homeless individuals coming from an armed forces back ground, dedicated projects like Amicus’s supported housing project are an essential resource to give individuals the opportunity to move from homelessness and re-build their life.

The projects, which are based in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Leicestershire (and are available to veterans from across the UK) provide individuals their own room in a welcoming communal house and access to a range of support services in areas such as life skills, mental health and education and employment.

Individuals are encouraged and empowered to access the support services and additional services within the community until they are ready to move out on their own and build an independent life as part of the community. ABF – The Soldiers Charity have been involved with the project since its launch in September 2015, and have seen the project grown from 3 bedrooms in Bedford to 38 bedrooms in 2017. ABF have recently provided funding to implement CCTV safety and security equipment in some of our latest properties. Amicus are extremely thankful to ABF for their continued support and funding.
