Kimberley, Senior Housing Management Worker in Bucks, reported how they are building relationships at the Wing / Cublington project and have been given a valuable volunteering opportunity with Blackthorn Nursery.

Blackthorn is a local farm with a small farm shop attached. The owners have fallen behind with some jobs due to various occurrences during the pandemic. Currently we have 3 veterans volunteering 2 days per week. They are doing various jobs from mucking out the animals, weeding the plant nursery, caring for the birds which are currently in the barn
due to the avian flu outbreak.

One of our veterans is currently in the process of building chicken coops, re-felting roofs to painting sheds and about to make some benches for the ornamental duck pond.

Kimberley also wanted to make a special mention of Wing Community healthy and help, working alongside the food porch. These Ladies have done a lot for the wing project and gone above and beyond to help the residents
