Celebrating the Support of the Arora Charitable Foundation

December 2025

We are incredibly grateful to the Arora Group and the Arora Charitable Foundation for their generous support through the Luton Hoo Hotel Charity Auction, which has raised vital funds for charities and community projects, including Amicus Trust.

The auction was made possible by the Arora Group’s decision to gift a collection of items following their purchase of Luton Hoo Hotel. Great care was taken to preserve the hotel’s listed status and historic features, ensuring that significant pieces remain in place to tell the story of this iconic heritage property for generations to come, while allowing remaining items to be used to support local charitable causes.

This support will have a meaningful impact, supporting our Mental Health and Life Skills  teams who play such a pivotal role in helping our residents to Break the Circle of Homelessness and move on to sustainable Independent Living.

This project is a powerful example of what can be achieved through collaboration — safeguarding history while helping to shape brighter futures.

Sandy Secondary School Pupils Braved the Cold

April 4th 2025

Students Learning About Amicus Trust

On the evening of April 4th, a group of determined secondary school pupils faced the chill of the night (3°)  as they participated in a sponsored Sleep Out in their school courtyard.

The event, organised by Sandy Secondary School, saw students embracing the elements and sleeping outdoors under the stars for one night, equipped with only sleeping bags and cardboard boxes for comfort. The goal of the Sleep Out was to raise money and awareness for us, especially as we have up to 60 residents in our supported accommodation in the Sandy and Biggleswade areas.

"We wanted to do something impactful and really experience, even just for a night, what it might be like for those who don’t have a home," said Mr Davis, who organised the event.. "We’re incredibly proud of our students for taking part in this initiative to raise awareness about homelessness. This is a great opportunity for them to step outside their comfort zones while learning about the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and how we can all help make a difference."

The students then built their shelters to protect themselves from the elements- some more elaborate than others

Allotment Project in Maulden

March 2025

Amicus Trust Allotment

The acquisition of a “waiting to be revived” allotment plot, with the help of Maulden Parish Council, marks the beginning of an engaging community endeavour.

Local contractors kindly did some initial heavy-duty preparation, so it was not quite so daunting!

We then took over- constructing a shed, which will serve as a practical hub for the project, and introducing a water collection system. Following this, our residents have been eager to participate- planting seeds and cultivating the land. There's a palpable sense of anticipation as individuals look forward to actively shaping this green space.

Engaging in horticulture offers benefits beyond the garden itself, potentially improving mental well-being and fostering a sense of accomplishment through tangible progress. The shared effort of cultivation promises to be a rewarding experience for everyone involved!
